Out of 495 entries submitted to the Gamedev.js Jam 2026, Bauhaus Builder took first place overall. That's a remarkable result for a game built in 13 days, and the scores back it up. It ranked in the top 3 across Theme, Innovation, and Gameplay, making it the most consistent top performer of the entire jam.

The game was built by madmarcel (code and art) and Unaim (music), using Phaser and Box2D for physics. The Bauhaus and expressionist visual style is the core identity of the game, giving it an immediately distinctive look that stood out in a field of nearly 500 entries.

What Is Bauhaus Builder? A Physics Puzzle Game Built with Phaser

Bauhaus Builder is a physics-based puzzle game where you build machines and drive them through levels. Use arrow keys to drive, and hold the up arrow for the booster rocket. The game is fully playable on mobile with touchscreen support, which is a meaningful technical achievement for a jam entry built in under two weeks.

It also won the Phaser Challenge inside the jam, landing at #3 in the dedicated Phaser category, making it the only game to place at the top of both the overall ranking and the Phaser Challenge.

How Bauhaus Builder Was Built: Phaser, Box2D and Inkscape in 13 Days

The tech stack is straightforward: Phaser for rendering and game logic, Box2D for physics, and Inkscape for the vector art. All code and art were made by madmarcel by hand, with no AI-generated content. Music was composed by Unaim, with one level featuring "Village Consort" by Kevin MacLeod under Creative Commons.
