Deadswitch Combat is one of the standout titles in our February showcase of games made with Phaser. Developed by Wilkin Games, it is a fast-paced 2D multiplayer shooter built with Phaser 3 that launched on Steam Early Access in September 2025. It is currently free to play and carries a Very Positive overall rating on Steam.

Fast-Paced 2D Multiplayer Combat

Deadswitch Combat builds on the foundation of its predecessors with a wide variety of game modes and maps, ranked progression, multiplayer clans, and custom servers. Players earn XP by eliminating enemies, scoring objectives, and completing challenges, unlocking new weapons, attachments, equipment, and vehicles along the way.

For those who prefer offline play, local matches against bots are available to practice and refine your skills before jumping into competitive online matches.

Co-op Survival and Over 200 Weapons

Beyond standard multiplayer, the game includes a Co-op Survival mode where players fight off endless waves of soldiers, helicopters, zombies, and other creatures. Scores are submitted to worldwide leaderboards, adding a competitive layer to the cooperative experience.

Weapon customization is a major part of the game. With over 200 weapons available, players can personalize their loadouts with optics, lasers, grips, skins, and other accessories, alongside fully customizable characters.

In-Game Editor and Workshop

One of the most compelling features of Deadswitch Combat is the in-game editor, which lets players create their own maps and missions and play them instantly with friends online. Creations can be shared and browsed through the Workshop, giving the game a mod-friendly, community-driven dimension that extends well beyond the base content.

Built with Phaser 3, Looking Ahead

The developer behind Wilkin Games has been a long-time Phaser user, having worked extensively with Phaser 2 before making Deadswitch Combat their first Phaser 3 project. The game is currently free to play on Steam Early Access, with optional DLC bundles available. Early reception has been strong, with over 300 Steam reviews rating it Very Positive. Development has been active, with updates and community events such as a Valentine's Day weekend that offered double XP and double Weapon XP for all players.

A full launch is planned after a period of community feedback, polish, and additional content including new weapons, vehicles, maps, and expanded editor tools.
