Delve Online brings multiplayer space survival to your browser with zero install required. Built with Phaser 3, Vue 3, and modern web technologies, this open-source game shows what's possible with browser-based MMOs.

Two Game Modes in One Universe

Wave Mode offers cooperative gameplay for up to 8 players. Fight endless waves, level up, and climb global leaderboards with quick-start options to skip early stages.

MMO Mode delivers a persistent universe with 10+ star systems. Players can dock at space stations, use autopilot navigation, and engage in PVP combat across low-security zones.

Tech Stack That Scales

The game uses:

  • Phaser 3 for game engine
  • Vue 3 for UI framework
  • Supabase for auth and database
  • Photon Cloud for real-time multiplayer

Developer Steve Church initially built everything on Supabase Realtime but pivoted to Photon due to message-based billing. Real-time games send 200-400 messages per second, making Photon's CCU pricing 16x cheaper than Supabase for this use case.

Ship Progression System

Four starter ships are currently playable, each with unique abilities. The roadmap includes seven ship tiers from shuttles to titans, designed for different playstyles rather than pure power creep.
