Runner's Grave is a game from developer, programmer, and Phaser fan, Ian!

Ian reached out to us to provide an update on the progress he’s making on his game. Since feedback is very important for game development, we wanted to help spread the word and feature his game!

In Runners' Grave, your goal is to fight your way out of procedurally generated mazes. Along the way, you acquire weapons to fight back against enemies. The latest update includes an endless mode where you can take on a gauntlet of exceedingly challenging levels, and try for a high score. Ian was first introduced to Phaser a few years ago in a college game dev course.

He was really impressed by the amount of features and solid documentation in a web-based engine and started using it to build solo projects and game-jam games.

Phaser's Arcade physics was the perfect fit for this game

Ian highlighted Phaser’s arcade physics and the tilemap system, saying:

Phaser's Arcade physics was the perfect fit for this game, and the Tilemap system allowed me to load both procedurally-generated levels and static ones made in Tiled. I also took heavy advantage of setTintFill() to give the game's elements custom and randomly-generated color schemes. Overall, I had a lot of fun making this game, and I really appreciate the work of Photonstorm and the Phaser community in building and documenting the engine's extensive features.

Thank you Ian for reaching out and good luck with the game!
