Welcome to Phaser World Issue 178.
There are so many new things this week! Lots of you asked if we had a Trial version of Phaser Editor 4 - so we created one for you, and you can find it below. We've also released the first Technical Preview of the new Phaser v3.90 renderer, as well as version 2 of the Phaser Sandbox.
You may also have noticed that Phaser World has been published on a Monday instead of Friday. This is on purpose, we didn't forget :) and Monday will be the new publish date from now on. Rather than ending your week with a massive shot of Phaser, you can now start it with one!
As a special Thank You to all of our wonderful readers, we'd like to offer you 25% off any of our subscription plans. Simply use the coupon code PHASERWORLD178 during checkout to receive the discount. Be quick; this offer expires in 6 days' time.

Francisco: ¡Hola a todos!
This week, I've been focused on updating the Phaser Sandbox. Here are some of the enhancements we've rolled out:
Entry Titles and Descriptions
UI Improvements: a full-screen button for enhanced viewing, collapsible panels and a minimap toggle to better manage your workspace, a redesigned Settings panel, and now the logo is a button that takes you back to the section where you save your sandboxes.
I've fixed bugs related to the display panel and code refresh. Auto-save has been corrected when saving a pin.
Now the logo is a button that takes you back to the section where you save your sandboxes.
Stay tuned for more updates, and happy coding!
Arian: Hello friends!
This week that we leave behind has been intense. A lot of work in the editor and the website. For some time we had prepared a plugin for the editor that would allow us to work directly with a database in the browser (Indexed DB), without having to host the files on a server or in a folder in the local file system. Finally, this work has seen the light this week, with the release of the Phaser Editor Trial. Now you can explore all the features that this editor offers, and then take the next step: get the desktop version! This desktop version contains everything you can expect from a native application, contains several project templates and integrates very well with Visual Studio Code and your system browser. I hope you enjoy it! If you have any issues or ideas, you can share them in the #phaser-editor channel on our Discord server.
Robert: ¡Buenos días Phaser World! (keeping it simple with the Spanish this long week)
This week I wrapped up the examples and added a bunch of cool features for sharing your own! While not necessary rolling out right away, examples will feature many quality of life features the other aspects of the site now have. Essentially your own personal virtual folder, where you can manage examples of your own.
Can: Hello there Phaser fellas!
This week we are bringing Discord Phaser Colyseus Template for those want to make fun multiplayer Discord Activity games! Can't wait to see what you are bringing!
In the meantime, we’ve made our Playable Ads Template available for our Pro users! If you encounter any issues, or requests that we can do better, reach me out at can@phaser.io.
Pete: (note from Rich: Pete has recently joined us and his goal is to run R\&D tests on adapting an LLM to sensibly answer Phaser questions. Think ChatGPT, but with more insight, less version confusion, the speed of Groq, and fewer hallucinations! Take it away Pete ...)
My goal is to create a system that can answer Phaser 3 questions with greater accuracy than existing LLMs.
I've been experimenting with a local LLM and two chapters of the Phaser by Example Book as data for an addition Retrieval Augmented Generation. After messing around with various prompts to prevent Llama3 from using it's 'prior knowledge' (largely incorrect) the results are starting to become more accurate. I've extended the chapter data with one specific and highly obscure item (thanks, Ben!) about darker textures and confirmed that with correct prompting it is possible to retrieve that too. The point of the latter experiment is to check that we will be able to grow the corpus of Phaser-specific knowledge to fill gaps as they are mentioned by users.
Rich: Greetings everyone! Thank you so much to everyone who has subscribed to a Developer or Professional account on our site! Your support means the world to us and we're going to do everything we can to ensure you stay with us and stay happy.
You will have already seen in this issue lots of big releases, so I won't dwell on those other than to say you should definitely check them out! But I will talk about what is coming in the next few weeks. First of all, we have been hard at work creating a new Phaser Examples service. This will replace the current Phaser Labs and includes lots of really useful new features to help you find code examples quickly and easily, as well as create your own. We will be populating it with all of the content from the Labs, of course, but also hundreds of exclusive examples just for subscribers.
We will also be carrying on with the v3.90 Renderer release, making more Game Objects come online and fleshing out the new features. Expect another Technical Preview very soon. This week will see the release of a new Discord Multiplayer Games Tutorial. The last one proved extremely popular, so we figured it was about time to sprinkle a little Colyseus love in there. Also - Pro subscribers will get access to our brand new Playable Ads Plugin tomorrow too (Tuesday 7th May). And as always, there's lots more to come :)
This week, Ben released Phaser 3.90 Technical Preview 1 and you can read all about his work and what it contains in this news post. It's a detailed and fascinating piece, so we won't duplicate all of it here - but we would urge you to read it and experiment with this new release in our Sandbox!
