Welcome to Issue 165 of Phaser World
It feels strange to finally be in February, as it means we have now completed our first full month as Phaser Studio Inc! January was all about hiring and building a solid team to help drive Phaser forward, and I'm very pleased to say we've achieved that. There are now 8 of us working full-time on Phaser across the world, from New Zealand to Cyrpus to Florida; I'm very happy to have such a talented bunch of folks working on my dream with me.
It's only been a few weeks, but you can start seeing the fruits of our labors already. Today, we published Phaser v3.80.0 Beta 1. This release includes a detailed reworking of the WebGL renderer internals in order to support WebGL context loss and graceful restoration. It also has native support in the Loader for base64 files, updates to the Spine plugins, a new scale mode and lots more updates and fixes across the API. Please test it out and let us know how you get on!
In addition to v3.80, we've been on a mission to create Project Templates. These allow you to get started with Phaser really quickly and come pre-configured with a sample project structure and the bundler of your choice. We've even released TypeScript flavors of every template! Find out more in the News section of this issue.
January has been crazy, and honestly I don't see things changing any time soon :) but it's a very good kind of crazy! and this is just the beginning. There are a number of exciting internal projects in active development that we'll be announcing shortly.
