Welcome to Issue 26 of Phaser World

Wow, it's been quite a week! On Tuesday it was Phaser's 3rd birthday. And while I forgot to bake a cake, I did write a retrospective about how it all started, and what Phaser v0.5 looked like :)

On the same day I was also interviewed by GitHub on their Developer Profile blog, which was an honour. And as if that wasn't enough I released Phaser 2.4.7 RC1 as well.

As usual we've got some great games and tutorials this issue too, including the frankly insane Cucumber Invasion.

Until next issue, happy coding! And drop me a line if you've got any news you'd like featured. If you get the newsletter by email you can just hit reply, or grab me on the Phaser Slack channel.

Phaser 2.4.7 has come on a long way this week and we're now at Release Candidate 1. Please do grab it, merge it with your games, and let me know if anything falls apart as a result.

There are some nice new things in 2.4.7 including long-awaited camera effects. There are three new special effects: Camera Shake, Camera Fade and Camera Flash, working properly across Canvas and WebGL. You can configure each of them in various ways such as setting the effect color, duration and intensity. On complete signals are available for each effect so you know when they're done.

I also added in camera lerp support, with per-axis values, for really smooth camera motion and sprite tracking. It should make a big difference to how your games feel.

I'll see how 2.4.7 testing goes, but I think it should be safe for a release around April 21st. Generally, even though I ask for feedback, I don't usually get it until I release the build to master / stable :) Who knows, maybe this time will be different?

After 2.4.7 is out I'm going to focus on Interphase 2 authoring, so I'll be talking about that here, and showing you what's in store.

Geeky Links

These proved massively popular last week, with hundreds of clicks! So here's another batch. Nothing to do with Phaser, but enjoy them all the same.
